Destination April 2019
Quoting Jesus who said these two passages himself:
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son so that all who believe in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
John 11:25-26 I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?
Please notice, Jesus did not say “all who believe in him except for those that sin.” He did not say, “will never die unless they committed a certain crime.”
He said, “all who believe” and “he who believes.” Period.
Things which will not earn passage to Heaven: being charitable, teaching Sunday School, staying faithful to your spouse, obeying the law, taking your children to church every Sunday, saying your daily prayers, writing this article, being a good person, depositing your tithe money in the offering plate, staying off drugs including alcohol, never cursing, or driving without rage. You cannot earn Heaven.
Things which will not earn passage to Hell: murder, suicide, child abuse, stealing from your company, speeding on the roadways, abortion, homosexuality, starting a war, pornography consumption, disobeying God’s laws, drunkenness, lying, moving your fence onto a neighbor’s property, cheating a customer, slandering a person, or gossip. You cannot earn Hell.
The heavenly elements are a natural outgrowth of loving God. The hellatious elements are an outgrowth of loving the enemy of God. Don’t get me wrong; you may not commit any of these elements, good or bad, physically, but if you think about them, then in that way your heart is in the right or wrong place. As I age, my need to DO the sinful things is well under control. However, there are times when my thoughts head in that direction, and this is the frontier of my spiritual growth as I ask God to help turn my thoughts away from such things.
In the same way that you cannot earn Heaven, you also cannot earn Hell. Both destinations pivot on a single question. Is Jesus the Messiah, and do I accept his authority over my life?
HAPPY EASTER – FOR HE IS OUR MESSIAH AND IF WE BELIEVE IN HIM, ALL OF OUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN, AND WE WILL LIVE WITH HIM FOREVER.
